Round Rock, TX, March 9-10, 2018

Dedicated to Rylie York, 2017 all-West Region goalie, who was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma on January 25, 2018. A portion of all tournament revenue will be donated to the York Family.

Dates: March 9-10, 2018. The teams geographically closest to Round Rock will be scheduled for games on Friday afternoon and evening. Friday games will begin around 5:00 PM. Saturday games will go from 8:00 AM to 7:30 PM.

Location: Micki Krebsbach Pool, 301 Deep Wood Dr, Round Rock, TX 78681. A single outdoor 25-yard course with floating goals. Four 20-yard lanes are adjacent to the course and available for warm up.

Divisions: High school boys (includes co-ed teams); high school girls.

Entry fee (CORRECTED): $150 per team, not per school. A school entering one boys’ and one girls’ team will be charged $300. Teams are guaranteed at least two games. A third game may be available at an additional cost. An online payment method is forthcoming. Checks can also be made out to “Round Rock HS Water Polo.”

Intent and Schedule: Please email your intent to play ASAP or at the latest by Friday, March 2 to james@aquatexwaterpolo.com. A schedule will be published on the TISCA West Region website and emailed to all teams by Monday, March 5.

Rosters: Coaches are required to submit rosters with assigned cap numbers via online form once they have indicated their intent to play in the tournament. A link to the form will be emailed to the coach.

Concessions and Seating: Full concessions will be available to spectators. There will be hospitality for coaches and officials. Bleacher space is limited. Feel free to bring your own chairs, umbrellas, pop-up tents.

Game Day Info: Games are five minute quarters, two timeouts. The team listed on the left of the schedule wears dark caps. There will be balls available for warmup. Extra caps may be available. The color of swim caps must match, within reason, the color of the water polo cap per NFHS rules. Games ending in a tie will be recorded as such. No overtime or penalty shootouts.

Round Rock, Anderson, Cedar Ridge Poloists Garner All-state Recognition

Four West Region athletes were honored with recognition by the state’s high school water polo coaches on Saturday. Kaci Katusak and Jack Prud’homme of Round Rock, Layne Perry of Anderson, and Cedar Ridge’s Cassandra Keating garnered Honorable Mention at the TISCA Water Polo State High School Championships in College Station on Saturday. Sydney Coachman of Cy Creek and Zach Lowery Carroll from Southlake Carrol won the boys and girls MVP awards.

Prud’homme and Perry each earned West Region MVP awards in April. Katusak and Keating made the region’s first team.

Boerne Consolidated with 6 Wins at Round Rock Tourney

Boerne Consolidated’s three teams left day two of the Round Rock Tournament undefeated. The PSJA and Round Rock boys each earned a win and then finished their tense matchup in an 11-11 tie, one of the highlight games of the day.

Boerne’s teams, filled mainly with athletes from San Antonio Northside ISD high schools, showed their experience and depth. Six games equaled six wins; the girls were challenged most by Round Rock in a 7-3 win while the boys took down one of the regional favorites, Waco Midway, 9-2.

Among the unified teams nearly all of the split their matches with the exception of Round Rock’s draw with PSJA.

Up next for the region are the Waco Midway and Alamo Heights tournaments on Saturday, April 2.

LBJ Boys, Anderson Girls Undefeated on Day 1 of Round Rock Tourney

The LBJ High School boys, in their second year of competition, are undefeated with two wins after beating McNeil and Westwood on Friday at the Round Rock High School Water Polo Tournament. Defending regional girls’ champions Anderson also remain without a loss. The Trojans beat LBJ and McNeil to remain atop the TISCA West Region standings.
